Tracy Ferm is an abstract artist who works primarily with acrylics, collage, and mixed media. Her pieces are driven by movement, texture, and emotional rhythm using layering techniques and color to reflect freedom, energy and depth.
She has lived in California her entire life but now spends each Spring in New Orleans painting whenever inspiration calls. Her work is deeply influenced by place and has been created in New Orleans, Marin County, Maui, Mexico and Palm Springs, each location leaving its imprint through inspired color and motion. Her work and the energy behind her creations are meant to be felt as much as seen.
Tracy's process is intuitive and physical, built through mark-making, scraping and layering until the piece finds its own balance. She works across a range of scales from smaller studies to large-format canvases as expansive as 5' X 6.'
